JOWIM is published twice a year by the Department of Telecommunication Engineering at Politeknik Negeri Padang, Indonesia. We welcome original research, review articles, and short communications from Indonesia and beyond.
JOWIM publishes original research articles, review papers, and short communications across the disciplines listed below. Work that crosses disciplinary boundaries — networking combined with applied security, antenna design for specific protocols, multimedia QoS on real networks — is especially welcome.
2G/3G/4G/5G measurements and planning · LTE TDD vs FDD · coverage planning across frequency bands · drive-test field measurement · antenna design and characterization · RF propagation modelling.
GPON and FTTH architecture · bill-of-quantity and cost analysis · OLT/ONU placement and splitter ratios · QoS measurement on production networks · protocol performance evaluation.
Audio/video codecs · streaming protocols · QoS and QoE measurement · multimedia over wireless networks · content delivery networks.
Penetration testing methodology · SQL injection and input validation · network intrusion detection · applied cryptography · security audit frameworks.
Embedded and real-time systems · IoT protocols and architectures · digital signal processing · hardware/software co-design.
The editor-in-chief confirms the manuscript is within scope, properly formatted, and not under review elsewhere. Out-of-scope submissions are returned within five working days.
Manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with subject-matter expertise. Reviewers are anonymous to authors; authors are anonymous to reviewers.
Reviewer recommendations are combined by the handling editor. The editor-in-chief issues a decision: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Median time to first decision: 6 weeks.
JOWIM follows the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, WAME). The full ethics policy is below; the short version is: original work only, no simultaneous submission, full disclosure of conflicts of interest, and honest reporting of methods and results.
Manuscripts must report original work that has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration by another journal. All co-authors must have approved the submitted version. Conflicts of interest and sources of funding must be disclosed. Image manipulation, data fabrication, and plagiarism are grounds for rejection and retraction.
Reviewers treat manuscripts as confidential documents. Reviews are objective, evidence-based, and constructive. Reviewers who cannot meet the four-week review window must decline promptly. Reviewers disclose conflicts of interest before accepting a manuscript.
Editors recuse themselves from manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's merit, not the author's affiliation or identity.
Honest errors are corrected via published errata. Research misconduct is investigated following COPE flowcharts and may lead to retraction with a public notice.
Use of generative AI tools (writing, image, code) must be disclosed in the Methods or Acknowledgements section. AI tools cannot be listed as co-authors.
