Submit your paper to JOWIM.

Original research, review articles, and short communications. No fees. Peer-reviewed. Open access. Median time to first decision: 6 weeks. Submissions open for Vol 03 No 02 (November 2026) until 31 August 2026.

Author guidelines

What we need from you before sending your manuscript to reviewers.

The journal accepts three article types: original research articles (typical length 6,000–10,000 words), review articles (8,000–14,000 words), and short communications (2,000–4,000 words). All submissions must follow the format below.

Manuscript format

Word or LaTeX. Two-column layout for the camera-ready PDF.

Submissions may be in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX. Use the journal template (download below) for final accepted manuscripts. Use 11pt Times Roman, double-spaced, 1-inch margins for initial submission.

Required sections

Title, authors, abstract, keywords, body, references.

Every submission must include: title page with full author names and affiliations; abstract (150–250 words); 4–6 keywords; introduction with explicit contribution statement; methods, results, and discussion sections; conclusions; references in IEEE numeric style.

Figures & tables

Embedded in body. Source files separately.

Figures and tables are embedded in the manuscript at first mention, with captions below. Source files (PNG/SVG/PDF for figures; CSV/XLSX for tables) accompany the final accepted manuscript.

References

IEEE numeric style.

Numbered in square brackets in the order they appear. Up to 40 references for research articles; unlimited for review articles. DOI must be included where available.

Anonymisation

Blind the manuscript for review.

Remove author names, affiliations, and acknowledgements from the main document before submission. Reference self-citations as "Author" rather than by name.

Fees

Zero.

No submission fees, no article processing charges, no subscription fees. JOWIM is funded institutionally by Politeknik Negeri Padang and the Indonesian Ministry of Education.

Timeline

6 weeks to first decision.

Median time from submission to first decision is 6 weeks. Accepted manuscripts are typically published online within 4 weeks of acceptance and assigned to the next available issue.
